Design Spectrum (Foundation We Are x ADEZIV)

A communal workspace and exhibition activation for social design, created for Fresh Grounds, a four-month exhibition that started in May 2025.

Default Spectrum is a communal workspace hosted by ADEZIV that embodies the notion of spectrum as both a visual language and a shared experience, and a space to embody neuro-liberated design research. Developed for Foundation We Are’s social design exhibition Fresh Grounds (a four-month exhibition that started in May 2025), the project invites visitors to investigate their own spectrum and reflect on where they stand in relation to others and to neurodivergent lived experiences. Through a large tape installation, the spectrum becomes a physical space to step into and think with. Alongside the installation, ADEZIV developed a research document that allows visitors to map themselves across 12 axes, making visible the ways (neurodivergent) individuals often have to design their own strategies to navigate daily life. To bring the spectrum into the room as a lived, collective practice, the community hosted weekly body doubling sessions within the installation: a neurodivergent support practice that makes working together more accessible and neurodivergent-friendly. For Foundation We Are, gathering neurodivergent lived experiences in a neuroinclusive way is central. This research directly shapes how we work, how we design, and how we imagine more hopeful futures. The project highlights the broadness of the spectrum, the beauty of its variety, and the potential for design to support positive experiences.
