Design Your Own Stim Tool – Dutch Design Week Graduation Show

During Dutch Design Week 2023, Adeziv organized the Design Your Own Stim Toy workshop as part of the Graduation Show, inviting neurodivergent designer Lisa Rubio to take part. This hands-on experience was designed to introduce visitors to stimming—the often misunderstood self-regulation practice used by many neurodivergent people.

Rather than just explaining what stimming is, the workshop encouraged active participation, allowing attendees to explore sensory needs through making. By designing and creating their own personalized stim tool, participants not only engaged in a creative process but also gained a deeper understanding of the importance of sensory tools in everyday life.

The workshop wasn’t just about crafting objects—it was about empowerment. Visitors, regardless of their background, had the chance to connect with neurodivergent experiences and recognize the value of designing for their own sensory well-being. Through Adeziv’s neuro-inclusive approach, this event transformed the traditional graduation show format, proving that interaction and lived experience are essential elements of design.
