The Filter Project
The Filter Project is a design methodology, performance, and collection of objects that translates lived experience and neurodiversity into tangible design interventions.
Over four years, this project was co-designed by François Chambard, designer and maker, and Daisy Dawson, a social designer and activist. Using design research, they transformed the lived experiences of various neurodivergent individuals into “filters”—objects that serve as tools to communicate these experiences to the world.
The project began with Daisy’s own filter, evolving into a performance piece that embodied neurodivergent perspectives through design. As the research expanded, more individuals joined, contributing their own experiences and insights. Eventually, seven filters were created and showcased at Design Museum Ghent during Ghent Design Fest 2022.
By transforming personal narratives into interactive design objects, the Filter Project challenges perceptions, fosters understanding, and opens up new ways to engage with neurodivergent realities.
